The flue collar is made of solid cast iron and is installed on top of the stove. If a rear-mounted chimney is preferred, the smoke outlet can also be mounted to the rear of the stove. The flue collar fits all VARDE wood-burning stoves.

In general, ordinary hardwoods are the best wood to burn. They burn evenly, give little smoke, and the ash is clean and takes up very little space. Softwood can be burned too, but it burns a little faster and gives less heat for the same volume of wood.
